Yaya Nails home

Booked by branch, by service, and by the technician you want.

Book

Acrylic nails are made from a powder and a liquid. Mixed into a bead, they harden in the air over your own nail, with a tip or form underneath for length. Both salons do full sets, short or long, and fills for sets done here. Yaya, who runs both salons, teaches the salon’s acrylic course herself.

Short Acrylic Full Set

Three ways to book it.

From the person who teaches it.

Yaya keeps her own table in Sarasota, where she does acrylic sets and fills. She also teaches the salon’s acrylic course, from the natural nail to the final finish, with the why behind every step. Book your set with her and it comes from the person who teaches the course.

What happens at your appointment.

A full set is one appointment, from bare nails to a finished set. This is the order of it.

  1. Prep

Your nails are filed short and even, the cuticles pushed back and cleaned up, and the surface lightly buffed so the acrylic holds.

  2. Length and shape

A tip is glued to each nail, or a form is fitted under it, and cut to the length and shape you choose.

  3. The acrylic

A bead of powder and liquid is laid on and brushed into shape over the whole nail. It hardens in the air, with no lamp.

  4. Shape and finish

Each nail is filed to its final shape and buffed smooth. Then polish or gel colour, a design if you want one, a top coat and cuticle oil.

A fill is shorter. The gap that has grown out at the cuticle is filled with new acrylic, and the whole nail is filed back into balance and finished again.

Acrylic, or something else?

Four ways to wear something stronger than polish. All four at both salons.

Looking after acrylic nails.

A set lasts best when it is kept up on time and never used as a tool.

  • Book your fill on time

Every 2 to 3 weeks. Within 30 days of a set done here, a refill is all you need. After that, it is a new full set.

  • Don’t use them as tools

Opening cans, scraping labels and prying lids is how a nail cracks or lifts at the edge.

  • Oil your cuticles

A drop of cuticle oil a day keeps the skin around the acrylic from drying out and pulling away from it.

  • Never pull one off

If a nail lifts or breaks, book in rather than pulling at it. Pulling acrylic off tears the top layers of your own nail.

I love Yaya nails! I have had my full set acrylic nails and gel pedicures done there for a long time now probably a year or more.Today my nails and pedicure were done by Yenisse again and they are so flawless every time because she is a perfectionist. I used to find flaws in every set I would get at other nail salons by other nail techs and I would just focus on the flaw and stare at the flaw until the next new set….I know I am not the only one who does that lol! But not with Yenisse or any of the other girls from Yayas. They take there time and don’t miss a step and are perfectionist too lol! I now usually started get long beautiful full sets of nails because the are just done so flawless. Today I had to get short nails for work and wanted to cry. This is the first time I have had my natural nails with no tip because I thought it could not be done because that’s what I was told other places but Yenisse did it today and they look so clean and dainty. I am 100% a satisfied customer and will keep coming back! It is my pleasure to be a Yaya customer!❤️

Questions about acrylic nails.

How much are acrylic nails?

A short full set is from $85, about 120 minutes. A long full set is from $90, about 150 minutes. A refill is from $75, about 90 minutes. Prices are before tax and depend on the technician you choose.

Short or long: which set do I book?

Book the short set if you want your nails to end just past your fingertips. Book the long set for anything longer, and for longer shapes like coffin, almond or stiletto.

How often do I need a fill?

Every 2 to 3 weeks. A refill is for acrylic done at the salon less than 30 days ago. After 30 days, book a new full set.

My acrylic was done at another salon. Can I get a fill?

Fills are only for sets done at the salon in the last 30 days. For a set done elsewhere, book a full set.

How are acrylic nails removed?

At the salon: the top is filed down and the rest soaked in acetone until it softens and lifts away. Don’t pull them off yourself. Pulling tears the top layers of your own nail.

Can you paint over acrylic nails?

Yes. Colour goes on top, polish or gel. Extra designs cost more.

Do acrylic nails damage your natural nails?

Not when they are put on, filled and taken off properly. The damage people describe comes from pulling a set off, or from filing the natural nail too thin. Keep your fills on time and have the set removed at the salon.

Acrylic or gel?

Acrylic is a powder and a liquid that harden together. It is the stronger choice for length. Gel sets under a lamp and is lighter; builder gel is the gel for strength on your own nails.
